Johan Mulder

30 years ago, Mulder opened an atelier in the city of Sneek. It was the first “open” studio in the Netherlands. To see the artist at work was something unique for the public. At first Mulder painted mostly still life pictures but there were even more landscape paintings often with a water theme and taken from a low perspective.

The size of the panel is in proportion to the size of the subject. In 1996 his first “trompe l’oeil” was created.

Johan’s work has been exhibited in many different Dutch locations, e.g. Castle Zeist, Utrecht and also in England and Denmark.

His work which is characterized by the love of his art and being within everybody’s means, is permanently exhibited in his atelier at the Frisian city of Hindeloopen (Buren 44).
